New Airbnb Rules Say "No More Indoor Security Cameras.

Airbnb is making a change to protect the privacy of guests in their properties. They’ve announced that they’re banning the use of indoor security cameras in listings around the world starting April 30th.

The short-term rental company previously allowed hosts to have security cameras inside properties in common areas, as long as they were disclosed on the listing page and placed in spots so they were clearly visible. The cameras weren’t allowed in certain places, including sleeping areas and bathrooms. But Airbnb now says security cameras aren’t allowed at all inside, regardless of where they’re located or if they were previously disclosed.

According to the company, the majority of the listings on their site don’t have security cameras, but those that do will have until April 30th to remove them. After that, hosts who violate the new policy could have their account removed from the platform. Outdoor security cameras are still allowed, but hosts need to disclose their general location to guests before they book a stay.
