Biography
Long Island, NY, singer/guitarist/songwriter Brendan B. Brown put together the quartet Wheatus as a vehicle for his witty, energetic rock songs, beginning with his brother, Peter Brown, on drums and adding multi-instrumentalist Phil A. Jimenez and bassist Rich Leigey (replaced in July 2000 by Mike McCabe). The group recorded their self-titled debut album in the Brown home, producing it themselves, and it was released by Columbia Records in August 2000; the album was preceded by the single "Teenage Dirtbag," which was featured in the film #Loser. The week of the album's release, Wheatus embarked on their first national tour with labelmates Zebrahead.
